The axe doth fall

This cloudy mist called 'democracy'
hangs over our heads
corrupt, venal, ignorant fools
are replaced by ones
worse than them
but with a different name

Meaningless change pleases the fool
We all cheer in uproar
as the axe swings
and the ignorant and corrupted
are dead
but this cloudy mist
unknown are it's morals,
hangs over our heads again
clutching the axe
of our horrible demise

I do not know
when the axe will fall
but I can tell you this
it is soon.
The executioner dons his hood,
stained in the crimson lifeblood
of his predecessor

I will tell you friends
that when the axe does fall,
I will not cheer.
Nor will you
for we shall be
it's final victims.
For the axe doth fall
upon hapless innocents

  1. Couldn't think of more appropriate time to post it. Nicely done.
